Mark Stigers was born in Louisville Kentucky. As a child he was raised in Pleasure Ridge Park before moving to Middletown in 1970. Interest developed in the Middletown Fire Department from his next door neighbor as well as friends at school and he joined the fire department in 1975. Mark attended Eastern High School graduating in 1977.

He attended Louisville Technical Institute earning a diploma in Architectural Design in 1979 and Jefferson Community College earning an Associates of Applied Science in 2006.

He worked for several local architectural and engineering companies specializing in piping design which involved sanitary plumbing, process piping and fire sprinkler system design.

In 1981, Mark wed his high school sweetheart, Norma. Mark and Norma have two children who both work for the Baptist Health System.

In 1986 the opportunity presented itself to become an employee of the Middletown Fire Protection District as a firefighter and fire prevention
inspector. Mark has held numerous positions while employed by the fire district including Fire Marshal, Safety Officer and retiring in November 2013 as the Assistant Chief. He has experience in budget development, personnel management, Human Resources as well as he continues to maintain his Building Inspector certification through the State of Kentucky. One committee Mark is especially proud to have worked on is the county E911 system that is now operated as MetroSafe. He now works for a private fire investigation company.

Mark has many interests in the community. He serves as the Vice-President of Historic Middletown, Inc., and is a volunteer at the Historic Middletown Museum.

Developed and maintains the Facebook page for Historic Middletown Inc. He also serves as Treasurer of the Middletown Inn Historic Preservation Corporation and is on the board of the Middletown Historic Preservation Committee. Working with the previous Middletown Chamber of Commerce he was in several positions of the organization as well as assisting with the annual Middletown Milestone Festival.

Mark feels he has a great deal of insight and experience to contribute to the position of City Commissioner and welcomes the opportunity to continue serving his community.
