LMPD Senior Citizens Police Academy

The Senior Citizens Police Academy:

  • Gives seniors an opportunity for some new “hands-on” experience and an inside look at the operations of the Louisville Metro Police Department.
  • Offers seniors an understanding of crime prevention strategies and technology and the opportunity to become crime prevention practitioners in our community.

You will:

  • Learn how to report crime.
  • Learn to become proactive in crime prevention also understand crime trends, community problems, and how community policing addresses those problems.
  • See a demonstration of the mounted patrol and canine unit.
  • Become ambassadors for the Police Department.
  • Learn how to assist the police department in educating the public about our mission, goal, and objectives by joining the Alumni association or volunteer program that will correspond to your talents, skills, and time available.
  • Have access to and benefit from support services, and advocacy groups that are available to seniors to enhance your quality of life.
  • Learn from the police department units how to protect you and your family.
